Why would a court reporter want to use a scopist? To make more money and have some free time. Here's a little story for you: Once upon a time there were two court reporters. One court reporter used a scopist and one didn't. One day the first court reporter took a 200-page job. She was paid $3.50 per page, so for this job she was being paid $700. She decided to send this job to her scopist, whom she would pay $200, netting the court reporter $500. The next day, the first court reporter took another 200-page job, which she sent to her scopist. With paying her scopist $200, she once again netted $500. Between the two days, the first court reporter netted $1000. Now, the second court reporter also took a 200-page job at $3.50 per page. Since she doesn't use a scopist she netted $700. The next day, the second court reporter took the day off to work on her job from the day before. She netted $0 for this day. Between the two days, the second court reporter made $700. If you had an opportunity to make $1000 with a $400 tax deduction or $700 with no tax deduction in two days' time, which would you choose (and maybe some free time to boot!)? By using a scopist you can generate more income and get a little more free time. Call (602) 714-1146 or click here to schedule work. |
